Planting is done!  I should have started the zinnia seeds a little earlier, I didn't take into account that the basement is cold.  I also didn't notice that Preen is not compatible with flower seeds, so I had to supplement the seedlings with some actual plants so that they would bloom in the near future.  I also should have started the cucumber and zucchini plants inside since they can't be sown after using Preen.

It was warm last week and very little rain, but expected to be much cooler this coming week.

We also worked on leveling out the front wall this weekend, it looks much better!

Ready to plant!

We bought (hopefully) enough plants, and so I should be all set to plant.  We went to the Bruce Company, Jung, Home Depot and Johannsen's.  Jon hooked up the Mister Landscaper this morning too.

Update

Today we tilled the gardens with some Miracle Gro garden soil, and added Preen.  We'll see how that works, adding it a little earlier this year!  It says it can be applied again in 9 weeks.

I also bought the first plants today, a beautiful hanging basket and grape tomato plant from The Bruce Co.  The shopping begins!  I really need to find shade plants for the back corner, in doing some research it looks like in addition to impatiens I should look for alyssum, lobelia, nicotiana and pansies.  Cleome also do well in the shade, for the back of that section.

The zinnias are growing like crazy, hopefully they will be ready to plant within two weeks.

Birthday

Well, I was lucky to have a partly sunny 80 degree day for my birthday, but we're back to 60s and cloudy again, just like the majority of April! I'm going to plant zinnia seeds today.
